WES CIC was honoured to be welcome by the Tanzanian High Commissioner: Hon Mbelwa Kairuki in a recent visit aimed at exploring opportunities for collaboration. As an organisation founded by individuals with lived experience of migration from Tanzania, this was a special and meaningful engagement.
The meeting provided space to:
- Introduce the work of WES CIC, including our cultural orientation programmes, befriending services, and support for new arrivals.
- Explore cultural induction opportunities for new diplomatic staff arriving in the UK, helping them navigate life and integration with confidence.
- Discuss induction for international students, ensuring they have the tools, cultural awareness, and community connections they need to thrive in their studies and beyond.
Cultural orientation (or cultural acculturation) remains at the heart of what we do. By bridging gaps in understanding, we help newcomers feel at home while celebrating both their heritage and the diversity of British culture.
We look forward to building on this partnership and creating more initiatives that support integration, wellbeing, and empowerment.
