Ending Women’s Month with Courageous Conversations on Healthy Relationships

What better way to close Women’s Month than by tackling some of the most pressing, yet often unspoken, issues affecting women in our communities?

In partnership with Walsall Council, WES CIC’s Angela D. Gonsalves hosted a powerful community conversation on building healthy relationships. The event brought together women (and one courageous man!) for a frank discussion on conflict, love, resilience, and the realities many women face.

The atmosphere was honest, sometimes heated, but ultimately constructive. Together, participants explored:

  • The challenges faced by single mothers and women searching for love.
  • The struggles of women in difficult or abusive relationships.
  • The importance of conflict management, communication, and reconciliation in healthy relationships.

One highlight of the event was the creation of a Community Relationship Manifesto, where women contributed intentions and guiding principles for building stronger relationships and communities. This living manifesto is an ongoing project, open for contributions from both women and men who care about building a safer, kinder society.

We believe that change begins with courageous conversations. By talking openly, even when it’s uncomfortable, we create space for healing, growth, and stronger communities.
